The factory recently celebrated a significant milestone as the first facility in Egypt to produce one million vehicles.<\/p>\n
Sharon Nishi, Chairman and Managing Director of General Motors Egypt and North Africa, announced that the company has invested over $20 million to enhance its local manufacturing capabilities.<\/p>\n
These investments include advanced equipment and innovative technologies aimed at reducing production errors, thereby ensuring higher safety and quality standards for the new passenger car program.<\/p>\n
Nishi highlighted General Motors Egypt’s role as the first company to register under the Egyptian government\u2019s Automotive Industry Development Program (AIDP). She noted, \u201cThis achievement underscores our strong collaboration with the Egyptian government to strengthen the automotive industry ecosystem, promote sustainable economic growth, and create new job opportunities in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
To support the launch of the new passenger vehicle program and align with future growth plans, the company has increased its manufacturing workforce by approximately 30%.<\/p>\n
The 2025 Chevrolet Optra has undergone rigorous testing in international laboratories and an extensive six-month trial on Egyptian roads to ensure its readiness for the country\u2019s unique driving conditions.<\/p>\n
