<\/p>\nEgypt’s car imports significantly dropped in June 2024, following seven consecutive months of growth from November 2023 to May 2024.<\/p>\n
According to a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the total value of private car imports amounted to $133.8 million in June 2023, compared to $156.7 million in June 2023, representing a 14.6% decrease.<\/p>\n
The report also highlighted a 24.8% increase in auto spare parts imports during June 2024.<\/p>\n
The value reached $49.2 million, up from $39.4 million in June 2023, reflecting a rise of $9.8 million.<\/p>\n
In addition to cars, Egypt’s overall imports in June 2024 experienced a slight decline, totaling $6 billion, down 3.3% from $6.21 billion in the same month of 2023.<\/p>\n
Decline in Goods Transport Vehicle Imports<\/p>\n
Imports of goods transport vehicles also dropped by 25.6%. The value fell to $10.7 million in June 2024 from $14.4 million in June 2023, a decrease of $3.7 million.<\/p>\n
Growth in Tire and Tractor Imports<\/p>\n
On the other hand, imports of external tires and inner tubes for transport vehicles increased by 28.5%, rising to $45 million from $35 million in June 2023, a growth of $10 million.<\/p>\n
Additionally, finished tractor imports surged by an impressive 392%, reaching $24.6 million in June 2024, compared to just $5 million in the same month the previous year.<\/p>\n
This made tractors one of the commodities with the highest import growth during June 2024, as per CAPMAS data.<\/p>\n
Drop in Bus and Minibus Imports<\/p>\n
Conversely, imports of finished buses, microbuses, and minibosses plummeted during June 2024, recording just $203,000, down significantly from $994,000 in June 2023.<\/p>\n
