AMEC Report: Private Car Sales in Egypt Surge by 15% for the Second Consecutive Month<\/h1>\n

The monthly report from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMEC)<\/h2>\n

reveals a robust 15% growth in private car sales in Egypt, marking the second consecutive month of recovery. Notably, “Nissan” leads in sales, while “Chevrolet” secures the second position over the 10-month period.<\/p>\n

Private car sales in Egypt experienced a significant upturn, reaching 6.9 thousand cars in the reported month, reflecting a remarkable 14.7% increase compared to the sales figure in October of the previous year, which exceeded 6 thousand cars.<\/p>\n

However, the year-to-date data for the first ten months of the current year paints a different picture, showing a decline of approximately 57% in private car sales, totaling 52.8 thousand cars. This is in stark contrast to the same period in the previous year, 2022, when sales reached 123.1 thousand cars.<\/p>\n

The comprehensive report estimates the total car market sales in Egypt for the first 10 months of this year at over 70,000 cars, showcasing a notable decrease from the 168.8 thousand cars sold during the same period in 2022, reflecting a decline of about 58.5%.<\/p>\n

Breaking down the market, bus sales dropped to 6.7 thousand buses in the span of 10 months, compared to 14.6 thousand buses in the same period in 2022, marking a decrease of 53.9%.<\/p>\n

Truck sales also saw a significant decline, with the sale of more than 10.3 thousand trucks, compared to 31.1 thousand units in the corresponding period, indicating a decrease of 67%.<\/p>\n

Nissan emerged as the top-selling brand in the past 10 months, with sales surpassing 11,000 cars, securing a market share of 15.8%.<\/p>\n

Chevrolet secured the second position with a 12% market share and a total of 8.3 thousand cars sold, while the Chinese brand “Chery – Ghabbour” claimed the third spot with an 11.7% market share and 8.1 thousand cars.<\/p>\n

Toyota maintained its fourth position with an 8.6% market share, selling over 6,000 cars, followed by Suzuki in fifth place with a 6.3% share and sales exceeding 4.3 thousand cars.<\/p>\n

The MG brand saw a rise to the sixth position, increasing its market share to 5.9% and selling 4.1 thousand cars. Hyundai, falling to seventh place with a 5.9% market share, recorded sales of about 4.1 thousand cars.<\/p>\n

Other notable brands include BYD, Renault, Kia, Mitsubishi, and Citroen, each holding their respective positions in the market.<\/p>\n

In terms of monthly sales, the market witnessed a decline of 0.4%, with 8.9 thousand cars sold compared to the same month in the previous year, which saw sales exceeding 9 thousand cars.<\/p>\n

Bus sales declined to more than 1,000 buses in October, a 27.8% decrease from the 1.4 thousand buses sold during the same period in 2022.
