‘Nissan’ Leads the Market<\/h2>\n

The Japanese brand ‘Nissan’ maintained its lead in the sales of the best-selling ‘owner’ cars in Egypt during the first five months of the year. It acquired 25.2% of the market share, selling 5.5 thousand cars, compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n

According to the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) report, private car sales dropped to about 80.2 thousand cars in the first 5 months of 2023, down 73% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.<\/p>\n

‘Chery-Gabbour’ secured second place with a market share of 17.5% and sales of 3.8 thousand cars. This was followed by the brand ‘Renault’, ranking third with sales of 2.2 thousand cars and a market share of 10.4%. The ‘BYD’ brand ranked fourth, with a market share of 8.8% and sales of 1.4 million cars, followed by the ‘Toyota’ brand in fifth place with a market share of 6.8%.<\/p>\n

‘Mitsubishi’ ranked sixth on the list of best-selling brands, recording a market share of 4.5% and sales of approximately 988 cars.<\/p>\n

The MG<\/strong> brand ranked seventh, with sales of 909 cars and a market share of 4.2%. ‘Hyundai’ came in eighth place, with about 687 cars sold and a market share of 3.1%. In ninth place was ‘Opel’, with a sales volume of 597 cars and a market share of 2.7%. Finally, ‘Citroen’ was in tenth place with sales of 441 cars and a market share of 2%.<\/p>\n

The ‘Subaru’ brand ranked eleventh with sales of 382 cars and a market share of 1.7%. The ‘Suzuki’ brand came in twelfth after reaching sales of 294 cars and a market share of 1.3%.<\/p>\n

Other models recorded sales of 1.5 thousand cars, contributing to a market share of 7.1%.<\/p>\n

Sales of European brands declined by 78.3%, and Indian brands sold only one car in five months.<\/p>\n

According to the country of origin, Indian cars recorded only one sale during the first five months of this year, which was consistent with the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n

According to the AMIC report, European car sales in Egypt fell by about 78.3% during the first five months, to 3.7 thousand cars, compared to approximately 17.3 thousand cars sold during the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n

Sales of Chinese models decreased by about 68.5% to register 7 thousand cars, compared to about 19.8 thousand cars sold in the corresponding period the previous year. Sales of American-made cars fell by 82.6% to 489 cars, compared to about 2.8 thousand cars sold in the same period last year. Japanese auto sales dropped by 65.8% to 8.8 thousand cars, compared to about 25.9 thousand cars sold during the same period. Meanwhile, Korean car sales fell by approximately 86.5% to 1.7 thousand cars, compared to about 12.7 thousand cars in the same period the previous year.<\/p>\n
