Total Car Imports Amounted to $208.3 Million in May 2024

Egypt’s car imports during May 2024 saw a significant increase, reaching $208.3 million compared to $180.9 million in May 2023. This represents a 15.2% rise, according to a report issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

The monthly report also revealed a 15.2% increase in the imports of auto spare parts during May 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. The value of these imports reached $70.4 million, up from $61.1 million in May 2023, marking an increase of $9.3 million.

However, the report noted a general decline in Egyptian imports, which recorded $7.38 billion in May 2024, compared to $7.77 billion in the same month of 2023, a decrease of 5.1%.

Imports of goods transport vehicles declined sharply by 61.1%. In May 2024, imports were valued at $19.5 million, compared to $12.1 million in May 2023, a decrease of $7.4 million.

The imports of external tires and inner tubes for transportation also decreased by about 4.5%, amounting to $56.1 million in May 2024, down from $2.7 million in May 2023, a reduction of $13.9 million.

Conversely, the imports of finished tractors saw a notable increase of about 38%, reaching $14.5 million in May 2024, compared to $10.5 million in May 2023.

According to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, finished tractors were among the commodities with the highest increase in May 2024.

Additionally, the report stated that Egyptian imports of finished buses, microbuses, and minibusses during May 2024 were recorded at $934,000, compared to $2.6 million in May 2023.
