Top 12 Best-Selling Cars in August: Chery-Ghabbour and Nissan Lead
In a recent report by the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC), the Chery-Ghabbour brand emerged as the top-selling car in Egypt for the month of August, securing a 15% market share with 961 units sold.
Following closely, the Japanese automotive giant Nissan secured the second spot with a 14% market share, translating to 850 cars sold. Hyundai clinched the third position with a 10% market share and 627 cars sold.
Kia and Toyota took the fourth and fifth places, selling 500 and 415 cars respectively. Meanwhile, Suzuki, with its 7% market share, landed the sixth spot, selling 406 units in August.
Other notable mentions include:
- BYD, securing seventh place with 6% market share and 402 units sold.
- Renault, in the eighth position, holding a 4% market share with 233 cars sold.
- Opel and Citroen, both holding a 3% market share, managed to sell 206 and 200 cars respectively.
- The Geely Abu Ghaly brand rounded off the list in the eleventh spot, matching Citroen’s sales and market share figures.
Interestingly, while these brands flourished, the overall market saw a dip. “Private” car sales experienced a 28.4% decline, with sales plummeting to 6.2 thousand units in August, down from 8.6 thousand in the same month the previous year.
In the broader vehicle market, bus sales dipped by 51.7%, translating to 495 units sold in comparison to over a thousand in August 2022. Truck sales witnessed a sharper fall, recording a 64.3% drop with only 1.3 thousand trucks sold, a stark contrast to the 3.6 thousand units sold in the same period the previous year.
