Statistics: Car Imports Surge to $193.8 Million in February 2024
Egypt experienced a substantial increase in car imports during February 2024, soaring to $193.8 million from $67.8 million in February 2023, marking a remarkable 185.7% surge.
According to the latest monthly report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, imports of auto spare parts also saw a modest uptick of 2.1% compared to February 2023.
The value of spare parts imports reached approximately $48.1 million, up from $47.1 million in January 2023, representing a $1 million increase.
However, overall Egyptian imports declined in February 2024, totaling $6.08 billion, down from $6.23 billion in February 2023, reflecting a 2.4% decrease.
Imports of goods transport vehicles plummeted by 84.8%, with February 2024 imports totaling $6.3 million compared to $41.7 million in February 2023, marking a $35.4 million decrease.
Similarly, imports of external tires and inner tubes for transportation decreased by approximately 16.9%, recording about $32.4 million compared to $39 million, a decline of $6.6 million.
In contrast, imports of tractors as complete units surged by 119.3% in February, reaching $13.6 million compared to $6.2 million in February 2023.
Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics highlights complete units of tractors among the commodities that experienced notable growth in February 2024.
