Nissan Takes the Lead in Car market Sales, Followed by Chevrolet and Chery

Car market sales experienced a significant decline in the first half of this year, with approximately 36.8 thousand cars sold compared to 122.3 thousand cars during the same period last year, resulting in a decrease rate of 69.8%.

According to a report from the “AMIC” Information Council, obtained by the Auto Club, sales of passenger cars decreased by 71% with a total of 26.8 thousand cars sold, compared to 92.2 thousand cars sold last year, on an annual basis.

Bus sales also saw a decline, with only 3.9 thousand buses sold compared to 9 thousand buses in 2022, marking a decrease of 56%. Similarly, truck sales declined significantly, with approximately 5.9 thousand trucks sold compared to 20.6 thousand units during the same period last year, reflecting a decrease of 71%.

Nissan emerged as the best-selling brand during the first half of this year, selling 6.5 thousand cars and capturing a market share of 17.8%.

Car market Sales-2023

In second place was the “Chevrolet” brand, holding a market share of 13%, with total sales of 4.8 thousand cars, followed by the “Chery-Gabbour” brand in third place with a share of 11.4% and sales of 4.2 thousand cars.

The “Toyota” brand maintained the fourth position with a market share of 9%, recording the sale of about 3.3 thousand cars, followed by the “Renault” brand in fifth place with a share of 8.2% and sales of 3 thousand cars.

The “BYD” brand ranked sixth, increasing its market share to 8.2% with the sale of 2.3 thousand cars, while the “Suzuki” brand ranked seventh with a share of 6.1% and approximately 2.2 thousand cars sold.

The “Mitsubishi” brand maintained its eighth position with a market share of 4.1%, registering approximately 1.5 thousand cars sold, followed by the “Kia” brand in ninth place with a 3.3% share and a total of 1.1 thousand cars sold.

The “MG” brand ranked tenth, capturing a market share of 3.1% with a total of 1.1 thousand cars sold, followed by the “Hyundai” brand in eleventh place with 2.9% market share and a total of 1,000 cars sold.

The “Opel” brand secured the twelfth place with a market share of 2%, recording the sale of 741 cars. Other brands accounted for 12.6% of the market share, with a total of 4.6 thousand cars sold during the first half of this year.

Car Market Sales in June:

In June, car market sales continued to decline, with approximately 6.3 thousand cars sold, marking a 64% decrease compared to the sales recorded in June 2022, which saw the sale of 17.9 thousand cars.

The report indicated a noticeable decline in “ownership” cars, with only 4.9 thousand cars sold in June compared to 13.3 thousand cars sold in the same month last year, reflecting a decline of 59.6%.

Bus sales also declined to 636 buses, compared to about 1.5 thousand buses sold in June 2022, resulting in a decrease of 58.5%. Additionally, truck sales experienced a significant drop, with approximately 703 trucks sold, compared to 4 thousand units sold during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 82.8%.
