Nissan Dominates Local Car Sales in First Four Months of 2024
In the automotive market of Egypt, the first four months of 2024 witnessed significant shifts, with Nissan emerging as the leader in locally assembled car sales, while Toyota took the lead in sales of imported cars during the same period.
Decline in Local Car Sales
Locally assembled car sales experienced a slight decline of 2.6%, totaling about 9.3 thousand cars in the first four months of 2024. This is in contrast to the approximately 9.6 thousand cars sold during the same period in 2023, as reported by the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).
Surge in Imported Car Sales
On the other hand, sales of imported cars saw a notable increase of 31.3%, reaching 8.5 thousand cars during the first four months of 2024 compared to about 6.5 thousand cars in the corresponding period of 2023.
Nissan’s Lead in Locally Assembled Cars
Nissan, the Japanese brand, claimed the top spot in sales of locally assembled cars, capturing a significant market share of 38.6% with a total of 3.6 thousand cars sold.
Emerging Trends in Imported Car Sales
Among imported cars, Toyota emerged as the leader with a market share of about 22.8%, totaling 1.9 thousand cars sold. Following closely, the Kia brand secured the second position with a market share of 15.7%.
Other notable brands include MG, Suzuki, and Geely – Abu Ghaly, each making significant contributions to the Egyptian automotive market during the first four months of 2024.
