In November 2023, the import bill for “owners’ cars” surged to $223.4 million
marking a significant increase of 108.2% compared to the same month in 2022, as revealed by the monthly report from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
The imports of finished private cars were notable contributors to the overall rise in goods during November 2023.
The report highlighted a substantial growth of 52.3% in the imports of “auto spare parts” in November 2023 compared to the corresponding period in 2022. The value of these imports exceeded $54.5 million, up from $40.4 million in November 2022.
Auto spare parts imports were also featured among the commodities that experienced growth in November 2023.
The agency reported a general decrease in Egyptian imports for November, totaling $6.28 billion, compared to $6.96 billion in November 2022, indicating a decline of 9.9%.
Imports of goods transport vehicles witnessed a significant drop of approximately 53.3%. In November 2023, imports amounted to $11.7 million, a decrease from $25.1 million in November 2022, reflecting a reduction of $13.4 million.
On the other hand, imports of external tires and inner tubes for transportation recorded a notable increase of about 37.1%, reaching $55.4 million in November 2023, compared to $40.4 million in November 2022, showcasing a $15 million upswing.
Imports of tractors as complete units experienced a remarkable surge of about 226.2% in November 2023, reaching $26.1 million. This was a significant increase from just over $8 million in November 2022, reflecting a growth of $18.1 million.
