In January, Egypt’s car market experienced a notable 16.6% increase in sales compared to the previous year. The sale of private cars surged by 40.2%, totaling 4.8 thousand units.
Toyota emerged as the top-selling brand, followed by Chery-Ghabbour in second place and Chevrolet in third.
The overall car market, including owners, buses, and trucks, saw sales rise to approximately 6.2 thousand units, up from 5.3 thousand in January 2023.
While private car sales continued to climb for the fifth consecutive month, bus sales dropped to 522 units, a decline of 35.6%, and truck sales decreased to over 943 units, down by 17.3%.
Toyota led the pack with a 15% market share, selling 934 cars.
Chery-Ghabbour secured second place with a 15% market share and 931 car sales,
followed by Chevrolet with a 12% share and 756 cars sold.
Nissan slipped to fourth place with an 11% market share and 702 cars sold,
while Hyundai rose to fifth place with an 11% market share and 683 cars sold.
Kia claimed sixth place with a 6% market share and 375 cars sold,
followed by Mitsubishi with a 5% market share and approximately 324 cars sold.
BYD ranked eighth with a 5% market share and around 295 cars sold,
followed by MG in ninth place with a 4% share and 266 cars sold.
Suzuki secured tenth place with a 3% market share and 195 cars sold,
while Opel claimed eleventh place with a 2% share and approximately 136 cars sold.
Changan followed in twelfth place with a 2% market share and 106 cars sold.
Renault ranked thirteenth with a 2% market share and about 99 cars sold.
Other brands collectively accounted for 8% of total sales in January 2024, amounting to 471 cars.
