Customs: Release of 39,000 Imported Cars Worth $364 Million
The Customs Media Observatory confirmed that it has closely monitored the rumors circulated by some media outlets and social media platforms about the alleged cessation of the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system, which contradicts the truth and reality.
The Observatory emphasized that the ACI system is completely stable and operates regularly, debunking claims that the “system” has stopped.
In an official statement, the Customs Media Observatory stated: “More than 98,000 initial shipment identification numbers (ACID) have been issued since May 1st, reflecting the stability of the import movement through this system.
Goods worth $13.7 billion have arrived at the ports during this period, with a total of $12 billion worth of goods released.
This includes strategic goods worth $3.4 billion, production requirements and raw materials worth $5.4 billion, and more than 39,000 imported cars valued at approximately $364 million.”
The Observatory also noted that customs officials, in cooperation with relevant authorities, successfully controlled several incidents of fraud in the import process.
It was observed that some individuals registered in the ACID data that they intended to import spare parts and railway cars, while in reality, their shipments consisted of private cars.
These individuals requested amendments to the customs data on imports upon arrival to complete the release of these cars.
The Customs Media Observatory urged media outlets and social media users to obtain information from competent sources and ensure accuracy and objectivity to prevent confusion and avoid legal accountability.
