Chevrolet Dominates Egypt’s Truck Market with Robust 9-Month Sales Performance
In a commanding lead, Chevrolet has secured the prime position in Egypt’s truck market sales within the first nine months of the current year. The brand boasts a substantial 68.1% of the market share, with sales reaching 6.3 thousand trucks.
The sector for locally assembled trucks has seen a significant downturn, with sales plummeting to 7.1 thousand trucks—a stark contrast to the 25.9 thousand trucks sold in the same timeframe last year, marking a steep 72.4% decline.
The imported truck segment didn’t fare much better, experiencing a substantial drop. Sales tallied at 2.2 thousand trucks, down from 3.6 thousand trucks in the preceding year, accounting for a 39.1% decrease.
The Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) report positioned Toyota as the runner-up, capturing 12.6% of the market with 1.1 thousand trucks sold. GMC followed closely, ascending to third place with 6.3% market share and 593 vehicles sold.
Suzuki experienced a slip to fourth place, garnering a 5.3% market share with 499 vehicles sold. Mitsubishi held the fifth spot with a sale of 281 trucks, translating to around a 3% market share.
The MCV/Mercedes brand ranked sixth with 1.9% of the market share, concluding sales at 176 vehicles. Fiat claimed the seventh spot, moving 155 units and earning a 1.7% market share.
Hyundai secured the eighth position in Egypt’s top-selling truck brands within the nine-month span, selling 53 trucks. Volvo came in at ninth, with 31 trucks sold, while Shacman rounded out the top ten, achieving sales of 25 trucks.
Overall, the truck market saw a drastic 68% sales reduction, with a tally of just over 9.3 thousand trucks during the last nine months, a significant drop from the 20.6 thousand trucks sold in the corresponding period of the previous year.
