Cairo Airport Customs Car Auction on October 24, 2023: Everything You Need to Know
On October 24, 2023, at 12 noon, the Giza Sports Club hall will host a public auction featuring 32 imported cars stored at the Cairo International Airport’s customs yard. These vehicles, sourced from customs concessions and confiscations, encompass a wide variety of renowned brands such as Mercedes, Volvo, BMW, Volkswagen, Range Rover, Toyota, Nissan, Hummer, Hyundai, Chevrolet, and Mazda.
For those interested, the auction’s terms and conditions are available in a booklet priced at 400 pounds. This can be obtained from the General Authority for Government Services at 7 Dr. Mohamed Hamid Fahmy Street, Dokki, situated opposite the Faisal Islamic Bank.
Prospective buyers can inspect the cars at the customs yard near the Cairo Airport bus stop. This can be done between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on official working days leading up to the auction. It’s also worth noting that auction participants can bring car inspection experts along during the viewing.
Entrance prerequisites for the auction include presenting a valid national ID for regular individuals and a tax card for dealers.
The auction process follows Law No. 182 of 2018, which deals with contracts made by public entities. This law is further elaborated on by Resolution No. 692 of 2019. It’s crucial to note that the terms and conditions booklet must be purchased to participate, and cars will be auctioned individually without any added commission.
For participation, there’s an auction entry deposit of 10,000 pounds. This serves as temporary insurance and is paid at the customs treasury either before or during the auction. If a participant doesn’t win any lot, this deposit is refundable post-auction.
Winners are required to make an initial payment of 30% of the car’s price immediately after winning. Failure to do so on the same day leads to the forfeit of the deposit to the administrative body. Payments can be made in cash or through specific electronic methods, as detailed in Article 21 of Law 182 of 2018.
The remaining balance, 70% of the auctioned price, needs to be cleared within 15 days post-auction. Payments can be made through approved banks, with specifics outlined in various ministerial resolutions and circulars, emphasizing the use of electronic payment systems for government, tax, and customs dues.
