“Amic”: “Nissan” Leads November’s Private Car Sales

Nissan, the Japanese automaker, clinched the top spot in monthly sales for locally assembled private cars, securing a commanding 37% market share and selling a total of 1.2 thousand cars in November.

Hyundai surged to second place, increasing its market share to 27% and selling 894 cars. Meanwhile, the Chinese brand “Chery – Ghabbour” slipped to third place with a 22% market share and a total of 743 cars sold.

BYD secured the fourth position, boasting an 11% market share and a total of 358 cars sold among locally assembled and best-selling private cars in November.

Toyota slid to fifth place with a 3% market share and 98 cars sold. Chevrolet claimed the sixth spot, registering zero sales, as per the compiled list of locally assembled “ownership” car sales in Egypt for November.

In the realm of imported passenger cars, Kia dominated the scene in November, capturing a 17.5% market share and achieving a total of 300 car sales, according to the monthly report from AMIC.

MG claimed the second position with a 16.9% market share, selling 773 cars, followed by Citroen in third place with a 10.9% market share and a total of 500 cars sold.

Suzuki secured the fourth spot with a 9.9% market share and 454 cars sold, followed by Toyota in fifth place with a 9.2% market share and 421 cars sold.

Renault ranked sixth, boasting an 8.5% market share and a total of 388 car sales, while Subaru claimed the seventh spot with a 5.1% market share, recording sales of 235 cars.

Geely Abu Ghali took the eighth position with a 4.8% market share and sales of 220 cars, followed by Chery – Ghabbour in ninth place with approximately 3.8%, selling 174 cars.

Opel secured the tenth spot with a 3% market share, selling 137 cars, trailed by Changan in eleventh place with around 2.8% and sales of 126 cars.

Mitsubishi claimed the twelfth position with a 2.1% market share, selling 97 cars, while Haval followed in thirteenth place with a market share of about 1.9% and sales of 89 cars.

Other brands collectively accounted for a market share of 3.4%, totaling 154 car sales.

Locally assembled car sales witnessed a significant decline of 38.4%, reaching 30.2 thousand cars during the first 11 months of 2023, compared to about 23.2 thousand cars in the corresponding period of 2022, according to the monthly report issued by the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).

Imported car sales experienced a more pronounced decline, dropping by 61.4% to reach 30.6 thousand cars during the first 11 months of 2023, compared to about 79.3 thousand cars in the corresponding period of 2022.
