AMIC: 37.8 Thousand Cars Sold in the Egyptian Market During the First Half of 2024
Sales in the Egyptian car market saw a slight increase of about 2.6% during the first half of 2024, reaching approximately 37.8 thousand cars, compared to over 36.8 thousand cars in the same period of 2023, according to the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).
Passenger Car Sales Surge
Sales of private passenger cars experienced a notable increase, reaching 29.2 thousand units—a growth of about 9% compared to 26.8 thousand units in the first half of 2023.
Decline in Truck and Bus Sales
- Trucks: Sales of various categories of trucks declined by 6%, totaling 5.6 thousand units compared to 5.9 thousand units in the previous year.
- Buses: Sales of buses recorded a significant decrease of about 25.8%, with 2.9 thousand units sold compared to 3.9 thousand units during the same period last year.
Market Leaders
- Nissan: The Japanese brand Nissan led the market, capturing 17% of the market share with sales of 6.4 thousand cars in the first half of 2024.
- Toyota: Toyota secured the second position with a 13.4% market share, selling over 5 thousand cars.
- Chevrolet: Chevrolet followed in third place with a 13.1% market share and sales of 4.9 thousand cars.
Other Notable Brands
- Chery-Ghabbour: This brand rose to fourth place, holding an 11.7% market share with 4.4 thousand cars sold.
- Hyundai: Hyundai fell to fifth place with a 10.6% market share, selling over 4 thousand cars.
- Kia: Kia climbed to sixth place, achieving a market share of 5.6% with sales of 2.1 thousand cars.
- MG: MG dropped to seventh place with sales of over 2 thousand cars and a 5.5% market share.
- BYD: BYD rose to eighth place, recording sales of 1.4 thousand cars and a 3.8% market share.
- Suzuki: Suzuki fell to ninth place with sales of about 1.3 thousand cars and a 3.7% market share.
- Mitsubishi: Mitsubishi ranked tenth with sales of 978 cars and a 2.6% market share.

June 2024 Performance
The AMIC report highlighted that the market witnessed sales of over 8 thousand cars in June alone, compared to about 6.3 thousand cars sold in June 2023, marking an impressive 26.6% increase.
