AMEC Reports 8.4% Increase in Locally Assembled Truck Sales for January
During January, locally assembled truck sales surged by 841 units, compared to 776 in January 2023, marking an 8.4% growth, as revealed by the monthly report from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).
Imported truck sales, however, experienced a significant drop, with only 102 units sold compared to 364 in the same period, indicating a 72% decrease.
Chevrolet led the market with 708,000 trucks sold, capturing a commanding 75% market share. Mitsubishi followed in second place, accounting for about 14% of the market with 131 trucks sold. Toyota secured the third spot with a 4% market share and 37 trucks sold.
Mercedes claimed the fourth position, selling 19 trucks with a 2% market share, while Hyundai stood fifth with 17 trucks sold, also holding a 2% market share.
GMC ranked sixth with a 1% market share, selling 14 trucks, followed by Volvo in seventh place with 9 trucks sold.
Shacman occupied the eighth position with 6 trucks sold, and Suzuki trailed in ninth with 2 trucks sold.
Overall, truck sales across categories witnessed a decline of 17.3%, totaling more than 943 trucks in January compared to 1.1 trucks in January 2023.
