Nissan Leads Locally Assembled Car Sales in Early 2024

Sales of locally assembled cars increased by 2.2% in the first five months of 2024, reaching approximately 12.3 thousand units, compared to about 10.4 thousand units during the same period in 2023, according to the latest monthly report from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).

Conversely, sales of imported cars surged by 6.4%, totaling 10.4 thousand units in the first five months of 2024, up from 9.8 thousand units in the corresponding period of 2023.

Nissan emerged as the leader in locally assembled private car sales for the first five months of 2024, capturing 37.1% of the market with 4.5 thousand units sold.

Hyundai climbed to second place, increasing its market share to 27% with 3.3 thousand units sold. Chery – Ghabour dropped to third place, holding a 25.4% market share with 3.1 thousand units sold.

BYD secured the fourth position with an 8.6% market share and over a thousand units sold. Toyota followed in fifth place with a 2% market share, totaling 242 units sold. Notably, Jeep, Chevrolet, and Lada recorded zero sales during this period.

In the imported car segment, Toyota led with a 23.3% market share and 2.4 thousand units sold. MG moved up to second place with a 17.3% market share and 1.8 thousand units sold.

Kia fell to third place, capturing 15.8% of the market with 1.6 thousand units sold.

Suzuki ranked fourth, holding a 9.2% market share with 963 units sold, while Geely – Abu Ghaly advanced to fifth place with a 4.9% market share and 511 units sold.

Mitsubishi dropped to sixth place with a 4% market share, totaling 418 units sold. Renault fell to seventh place with a 3.5% market share and 364 units sold.

Peugeot ranked eighth with a 3.3% market share and 345 units sold, followed by Citroen in ninth place with a 2.8% market share and 278 units sold.

Changan secured the tenth position with a 2.5% market share and 266 units sold, while Opel came in eleventh with a 2.3% market share and 244 units sold.

Chery – Ghabour ranked twelfth with a 2% market share and 213 units sold. Collectively, other brands accounted for 9.1% of the market share with 946 units sold.
