European Car Sales Decline by 60.8% in 5 Months

Sales of European car brands have witnessed a significant decline in the local market, dropping by 60.8% during the first five months of the current year. The total number of cars sold fell to 1.4 thousand, compared to approximately 3.7 thousand cars during the same period last year (2023).

Japanese car sales in the Egyptian market experienced a slight decrease of 0.1%, maintaining their sales at 8.8 thousand cars, similar to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Chinese car sales saw a decline of around 1.9%, recording 7.1 thousand cars compared to slightly over 7 thousand cars during the same period, according to a report by the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).

In contrast, sales of Korean-origin models surged by approximately 191.6%, reaching 5 thousand cars during this period, up from about 1.7 thousand cars in the comparative period.european-car-sales-decline-60-percent-5-months-2024

American-made car sales dropped significantly by 52.4%, with only 233 cars sold compared to 489 cars during the first five months of 2024.

The AMIC report highlighted an overall increase in passenger car sales, rising to 22.7 thousand cars, a 4% increase during the first five months of 2024, compared to approximately 21.8 thousand cars in the same period of 2023.
