Sales of locally assembled buses saw a sharp decline of 49.5% in January.

During January of this year, sales of locally assembled buses witnessed a significant drop. Only 317 buses were sold, compared to 628 buses during the same period last year, marking a steep decline of 49.5%.

According to the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) report, imported bus sales also experienced a downturn during this period. Only 205 buses were sold, compared to approximately 182 buses in the same period in 2023, reflecting a decrease of 12.6%.

In January 2023, the “Toyota” brand dominated the bus market, capturing a commanding 39% share by selling around 205 buses. Following closely, the “Golden Dragon” brand secured the second spot with a 15% market share, selling over 77 buses.

“King Long” climbed to the third position with a 14% market share, selling approximately 73 buses. Meanwhile, “Suzuki” slipped to the fourth position, holding a 13% market share and selling more than 69 buses. “Chevrolet” occupied the fifth position with a 9% market share, selling 48 buses.

In sixth place, “Mercedes” held a 7% market share with sales of 34 buses. The commercial brand “Volvo” ascended to seventh place with a 1% market share, selling about 4 buses.

“Mitsubishi” claimed the eighth position, also with a 1% market share, with sales of 3 buses, in the list of top-selling buses for January.
