34.9% Surge in Chinese Car Sales in January
The Egyptian market witnessed a significant uptick in sales of Chinese cars, soaring by 34.9% to 1.7 thousand units in January 2024, compared to approximately 1.2 thousand units in the same period of 2023.
According to the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) report, Japanese car sales also saw an increase of around 17.7%, reaching 1.7 thousand units compared to 1.4 thousand units in the preceding year’s corresponding period.
However, sales of European brand cars in Egypt experienced a downturn of 9.8%, with 313 units sold versus about 347 units previously.
On the other hand, sales of Korean-made models surged by an impressive 285.6%, surpassing a thousand units during the same timeframe, up from about 270 units in the comparative period.
In stark contrast, American car sales plummeted by 67.8%, registering only 28 units compared to 87 units in January 2024.
The AMIC report also highlighted a continuous upward trend in private car sales in Egypt for the fifth consecutive month, hitting approximately 4.8 thousand units in January 2024, marking a growth of 40.2% compared to the same month in 2023.
