“Nissan” Leads the Market in Sales, Followed by “Toyota”
The Egyptian car market witnessed a slight decline of about 2.3% during the first five months of 2024, with total sales reaching approximately 29.8 thousand cars, compared to over 30.5 thousand cars in the same period in 2023.
A report by the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) highlighted a 4% growth in passenger car sales, reaching 22.7 thousand cars in the first five months of 2024, compared to around 21.8 thousand cars in the same period of 2023.
However, truck sales across various categories declined by 11%, totaling 4.6 thousand trucks compared to 5.2 thousand in the corresponding period last year.
Bus sales saw a significant drop of about 30%, recording 2.3 thousand buses compared to about 3.3 thousand buses during the same period last year.
The Japanese brand “Nissan” topped the car market sales, capturing 16% of the market with 4.7 thousand cars sold in the first five months of 2024.
The Toyota brand rose to second place with a market share of 14.7%, selling 4.3 thousand cars.
Chevrolet followed in third place, selling 3.9 thousand cars and holding a market share of 13.3%.
The “Hyundai” brand climbed to fourth place with a market share of approximately 11.3%, recording the sale of 3.3 thousand cars.
The “Cherry-Ghabbour” brand fell to fifth place, holding a market share of about 11.2% after selling around 3.3 thousand cars.
The “MG” brand moved up to sixth place among the best-selling brands in the car market during the first five months of 2024, with a market share of 6.1% and sales of about 1.8 thousand cars.
The “Kia” brand dropped to seventh place with sales of 1.6 thousand cars and a market share of 5.5%.
The Japanese brand “Suzuki” ranked eighth, with sales of more than a thousand cars and a market share of 3.7%.
The “BYD” brand secured ninth place with total sales of more than a thousand cars and a market share of 3.6%.
Following in tenth place was the “Mitsubishi” brand, with sales of 801 cars and a market share of 2.7%.
“Geely Abou Ghaly” took the eleventh spot with sales of 511 cars and a market share of 1.7%,while the “Renault” brand fell to twelfth place with 364 cars sold and a market share of 1.2%.
Other models recorded sales of 2.6 thousand cars, holding a market share of about 9% among the best-selling brands in the car market during the first five months of 2024.
The AMIC report also noted that the market saw the sale of 6.2 thousand cars in May alone, compared to about 7.3 thousand cars in May 2023, marking a decline of about 14.2%.
