1.2% Decrease in Car Market Sales During Q1 2024
The Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) report reveals a 1.2% decline in car sales in Egypt during Q1 2024, reaching approximately 17.8 thousand cars, down from over 18 thousand in Q1 2023.
Private passenger car sales grew by 9% to 13.4 thousand cars, compared to 12.3 thousand in the previous period. Truck sales fell by 18% to 2.8 thousand, while bus sales dropped by 29.4% to 1.5 thousand.
Nissan led with a 16.2% market share, selling 2.8 thousand cars.
Chevrolet followed with 15%, selling 2.6 thousand, and Toyota with 14.1%, selling 2.5 thousand.
Chery-Ghabbour ranked fourth with 11.6%,
Hyundai fifth with 9.6%, and MG sixth with 6.4%. Other brands like Kia and Suzuki also made the list.
March saw 4.1 thousand cars sold, down from 6.6 thousand in March 2023, a 36.8% decrease according to the LAMEC report.
